Brief: Tengu also known as Ravenfolk are an avian-humanoid race that hail from distant shores and land that are probably exotic to the more common lands found in fantasy (unless said GM is using a more Eastern inspired locale which might serve as their homeland). Tengu have black feathers, black or red eyes, and black beaks that jut from their heads. While they are known for their agility and stealth, Tengu often have a secondary hobby in mimicry, linguistics, or calligraphy.

Effect: Drawing the sign of protection over his head creates a field of mystical armor that absorbs blows made against the caster. This spell grants either +2 Armor or +4 with a Raise.

This angry mark in the air instantly turns into sharpened quills that fire out towards a target. Up to three of these large quills can be created by spending a like-amount of power points. Each shard deals 2d6 points of damage.

This symbol drawn turns into a bolt of fire that strikes the target with 3d6 points of damage. This spell creates only a single bolt of flame rather than multiple bolts.
Staff Enchantment: Glow (Light)
Cost: 1 / Range: Touch / Duration: 10 minutes (1/minute)
This symbol enchants a staff that the caster is carrying for either an end or the entire stick to glow with a luminosity equal to that of a torch. The area lit is a Large Burst Template area.
Taicho Quillmender is a traveling spellcaster and immigrant to a different part of the fantasy world. He is friendly, outgoing, and only held back by those judgmental and shortsighted of non-humans. When not on the trail, his main profession is as a writer and has perhaps too much experience writing things for other people. His magic is also reflected by his writing skills as he tends to draw symbols in the air that produce magic.
-Taicho technically has an Outsider status which might get him odd looks or rude remarks but rarely outright hatred from citizens as he never really appears threatening or dangerous.
-Has a quirk where he without thinking will peck at the air which may raise a few eyebrows. He occasionally does this between pauses when he speaks.
-Likes to write and craft scrolls. When writing for art's sake he makes a common knowledge roll of Smarts (+2). When being an artificer and making scrolls (such as those found in the Fantasy Companion) he must gather materials that are 1/2 the cost of the spell and make either a Knowledge (Arcana) or common knowledge (Smarts) roll with no or a +1 bonus due to dealing with magic.
