A Savage Worlds Adventure Sketch
Precis: In the not too distant future, Sarnath, a primordial city located in some remote part of the world has risen from the massive lake that has rested since it vanished into an inter-dimensional space. The party are hired agents of a corporation sent to exploit what can be found in this lost city. What they find is horror, what they do is battle the horror with artillery.
Conspectus: It is the neat future where corporations have wormed their way into controlling vast interests in civil government. Slugthrowers have become the new weapon of the battlefield and behind the scenes corporate raiding, and Batch-5 by the Carthago Corporation has unlocked psychic power within humans. The secret that the Carthago Corporation does not like to talk about is where they get the special ingredients to produce the so-called 'Batch-5'. Rumors persist the corporation using whale or dolphin brains, but in reality the corporation has a very aberrant method of harvesting the compound for psychic powers. Player Involvement: Recently, near the same site that the Carthago Corporation has discovered the remnants of the Ibians, the city of Sarnath has risen again from the depths of the lake. Research times sent into the city have yet to return. What little trace left points to attacks made by feral Ibians, some of whom use direct energy weapon against their victims. In response at the opportunity of acquiring crystalline tech, and the fact that they are running out of Ibian brains to grind into pills, the Corporation has hired the players to go into the city and do some of the following.
Hostage Rescue: Ostensibly the orders are to rescue to possible captured scientists. Emphasis in this case in bringing out hostages rather than stir up the city. The Corporation will pay extra for recovered Ibian brains.
Recover Item: While few research or reconnaissance teams have made it deep into the city, it is clear there are some objects floating around- crystal weapons, tomes of power, jewels with contained energy. The emphasis is recovering the item.
Seek & Destroy: The corporation needs bodies. Particularly non-damaged brains.
Survive!: The party might even be part of a expedition into the city, only to be caught in the middle. Try to escape the city and damn the corporations.
