Savage Worlds: Club Modern - A Setting As Told By Characters

Rather than write a dry campaign Precis and Conspectus, I instead wanted to make a campaign sketch using some characters I rolled up. So, let's take a look!

Margaret Monaghan
Novice Agent 0 XP

Attributes: Agility d6, Smarts d6, Spirit d8, Strength d6, Vigor d6
Skills: Driving d6, Fighting d6, Lockpicking d6, Notice d6, Persuasion d8+2, Shooting d6, Stealth d6, Streetwise d6+2
Traits: Pace: 6; Parry: 5; Toughness: 5; Charisma: +2
Edges: Attractive / Hindrances: Enemy (Mi; Agent Kirov); Greedy (Minor), Obligation (Ma; Colonial Arms)

Armory: .45 Pistol (12/24/48): Dmg: 2d6+1; RoF: 1; AP: 1; S: SA / Switchblade: Str+d4; S: Concealable (-2 Notice to detect)

Other Gear: Silencer, Car, Flashlight

-Since the end of the great war, Corporations have assumed control over governments. The war to end all wars was successful as corporations now avoid open conflict and prefer the cat-and-mouse of corporate espionage and small raids compared to mass trench warfare.

-Agent Monaghan is a member of the Colonial Arms corporation, joining since the end of the war and the death of her husband. Such a loss, combined with a corporate philosophy rooted in money has left her slightly bitter, a little bit greedy, and has at least one rival in the field.

-Her job, like a lot of agents jobs, are recruiting 'MADS' that is, so-called mad scientists who are working on wonder weapons that corporations can use either for their personal use, like the lunar colonization project, or sell to other corporations currently engaged in 'hostile actions' with another corporation.

-Her patron is one Colonial Arms a weapon's manufacture and dealer that has a major influence in what was once the United States.

Professor Fyodor Zorka
Robotics Professor; Novice

Attributes: Agility d6, Smarts d8, Spirit d6, Strength d6, Vigor d6
Skills: Driving d4, Fighting d4, Intimidation d4, Knowledge (Technology) d8, Notice d6, Repair d8, Shooting d4, Stealth d6, Weird Science d8
Traits: Pace: 6; Parry: 4; Toughness: 5; Charisma: -2
Edges: AB (Weird Science) / Hindrances: Curious, Mean, Delusional (Mi; Minor Paranoia)
Powers (1): Summon Ally (10 points)

Armory: Mauser Broomhandle (12/24/48): Dmg: 2d6; RoF: 1; AP: 1; S: SA

-Dr. Zorka is often known in corporate files as an Asset. This includes scientists, engineers, and technicians whose fringe ideas have been made reality. To a Corporation, his inventions are not the true prize, but he is. His specialty is in robotics.

-If Attacked, Zorka will use his Summon Ally to summon his robotic units to fight for him. Use Bodyguard stats (Pg. 117 - SWD).

-Zorka is married to Tatyana Romanova-Zorka. His wife is a double-agent, working with Agent Monaghan to help Professor Zorka to defect from the Red Star Corporation over the United States. Their plan involves using Zorka's tour of the States and The City where Club Moderne is located to defect. The city is use to that. Not only is it a meeting of fringe minds in the States, it's also a popular area to defect to.

-Dr. Zorka secretly hates the corporations and, in the right position, will plot to use his knowledge of robotics to bring an end to corporate control. Of course, given it's a world of fringe and diesel science, a lot of Professors have the same thought. They have to walk a careful line with the corporations.

Agent Alexi Kirov
Red Star Operative; Novice

Attributes: Agility d6, Smarts d6, Spirit d6, Strength d6, Vigor d6
Skills: Driving d6, Fighting d8, Intimidation d4, Lockpicking d6, Notice d6, Shooting d6, Stealth d6, Streetwise d6
Traits: Pace: 6; Parry: 6; Toughness: 5
Edges: Quick, Martial Artist / Hindrances: Greedy (Major); Quirk (Leaves Calling Cards); Enemy (Mi; Agent Monaghan)

Armory: Marakov 9mm (12/24/48): Dmg: 2d6; RoF: 1; AP: 1; S: SA  / Telescopic Baton: Str+d6; S: Concealable (-2 to Notice when folded up) / Martial Arts: Str+d4

-Agent Alexi Kirov is a freelance agent currently working for the Red Star Corporation based in what was once Imperial Russia. Unlike his rival, Agent Monaghan, he has no such obligation and will gladly switch sides for more money (save for his personal vendetta against Agent Monaghan).

-Agent Kirov is very quiet as to why he and Agent Monaghan's antipathy goes beyond professional rivalry. Some say Agent Monaghan stole Kriov's wife, or stole an asset out from under Kirov and made him look bad. He has made it known that very little will dissuade him from settling accounts with her.

-Kirov is currently charged with protecting Dr. Zorka. This can include actual bodyguard work, but it also means keeping an eye on the good Doctor and making sure he does not wander off and defect. He is on edge being in The City. The place is too well known for defections already, but it's where scientists meet and exchange ideas.

-Kirov does not look physically imposing. He is quick, and he knows how to strike people with his hands that have killed men. He is viewed as someone not to be crossed lightly.

-Kirov's mercenary status shows up as he talks with corporations like Maple Leaf Inc. and Turnbull Arms to switch sides. These talks are kept secret, of course, less they rouse the anger of his current paymasters.
