Savage Worlds: Sharkfolk


Sharkfolk

Brief: Sharkfolk are a race of aquatic humanoids who typically dwell on coastlines and in the sea where they can access to salt or brakish water. They are known for their strength, and quite a number of their kind are also known for their size and girth, though that isn't typically a given. Sharkfolk tend to have or light gray torsos with shades of darker gray or brownish on their backsides. The backsides are topped by a dorsel fin that cuts an intimidating shape in the water. When not using their favored weapons, such as knives or cutlasses on land, Sharkfolk like to use thier teeth.

Traits: Strong (+2): Begins play with d6 Strength

Bite (+1): Has a Natural Attack: Bite (Str+d6)

Darkvision (+1): Can see in total darkness up to 60 ft. (12 squares)

Blood in the Water (-2): Has an unquenchable thirst when in the heat of battle. Begins play with the Bloodthirsty Hindrance.

Dehydration (-2): Requires full body immersion in water once every 24 hours or suffers a Fatigue Point. At Incapacitation the character dies due to what is called drying out.

Aquatic (+2): Begins play with d6 Swimming. A natural swim speed equal to pace and can speed swim based on run die. Is never in danger of drowning as long as the character is conscious and able to move water through their guild.

-Jasper is a Sharkfolk who lives in the island city of Scarabae, particularly the docks of Redgutter Wharf. Like many Sharkfolk, he has grown to be a rather robust specimen. He is big, brawny, and his teeth are extra sharp to bite off limbs during a dive bar fight.

-His surname comes from St. Shear, an aspect of the divine power Strength, and in this case, depicted as a Sharkfolk hero who lead the Fin-kind to freedom from Sahuagin oppression. Sailors, including non-Sharkfolk, keep an alter or talisman as a protection against oceanic predators while at sea.

-Loves sea shanties and eating fish. Doesn't mind chum either, but he does have a certain sense of decency not to indulge in front of non-Sharkfolk crew mates.

  1. These fellows would also work as a science fiction Alien :) or even an upraised human byproduct! Great stuff.

    1. Thanks! Yeah. They can work in science-fantasy games (I would say anything soft sci-fi) or in Gamma World (which I guess is sort of the same thing).
